Global Commodity and Product Line Purchasing Dir. (PP) – Nexteer Automotive

Responsibilities

  • Lead teams to identify sourcing opportunities and implement strategies that save costs.
  • Guide the team to develop strategies that support key pursuits while minimizing supply risk.
  • Ensure the team executes a robust strategy to achieve the required Material Rate to Sales (MRTS) for each Product Line and Region from SOP through the program cycle.
  • Support the development and execution of a robust Supplier Quality Culture to ensure key metrics are achieved.
  • Create and implement an overall commodity vision and strategy; share this strategy with the team for alignment and support.
  • Provide strategic direction to establish a disruptive global and regional supply base.
  • Monitor and adjust strategies to optimize supplier performance; report on team performance to upper management.
  • Support quarterly review meetings with key suppliers.
  • Support the Core Engineering Team to optimize design, materials, and processes.
  • Share information about the Product Line’s 10-year strategic plan and technological roadmap with GSM global and regional teams.
  • Monitor market trends, forecasts, new developments, technologies, etc.
  • Lead the team in global negotiations and contract establishment; participate in negotiating major supplier contracts and approving key global supplier decisions.
  • Collaborate with the Application Engineering team to ensure sourced parts meet cost requirements.
  • Promote a cost-management culture that supports accurate BOM development and define BOM cost targets for key pursuits.
  • Oversee the team in evaluating supplier cost structures and commercial proposals; define targets and document negotiations.
  • Ensure compliance with company and GSM policies, PMAP and procedures and applicable regulations; maintain processes and systems for sourcing and procurement activities.
  • Benchmark procurement processes and implement best practices; continuously improve the sourcing process.
  • Manage relationships with key global suppliers; develop a cost-effective supply base for each region; regularly interact with supplier top management to review and adjust business relations.
  • Enhance Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) with key suppliers through various activities.
  • Lead high-performing teams and act as a role model; keep upper management informed on commercial issues and resolution plans.
  • Coach global purchasing leaders and Commodity Managers to develop their skills; provide hedging recommendations for consideration by various departments.
  • Lead the Commodity Teams to achieve team objectives.

Minimum requirements

Bachelor's Degree (or foreign academic equivalent) in Economics, Business, or related field and ten (10) years of experience as a Purchasing Director, Operations Director, or a related occupation. Experience must include: 10 years of experience with purchasing and strategic sourcing; 10 years of experience managing multiple commodities globally; experience in Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, Quality, Program Management, Procurement and Cost Development & Management; experience negotiating complex contracts with suppliers; experience resolving conflicts and managing supply chain disruptions; experience in MS Office and Power BI; experience in commodities such as Electronic Control Units, Circuit Card Assemblies, PCBA’s, Microchips, passive components, Sensors, Motors, Actuators, HPDC, plastic injection, over moulding, machined parts, stampings, forgings; experience with Lean Manufacturing tools.

Other

This is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address. International travel required, as needed, up to 30%.
