The RN provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. Essential functions include performing all responsibilities and duties required specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided assures the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completing initial assessments upon patient admission and developing appropriate plans of care in accordance with unit standards is essential. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifications to the plan of care are made based on continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Effective communication with others directly and in private is necessary to resolve issues. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand the knowledge base. Identifying one's own learning needs and taking initiative to begin appropriate solutions is encouraged. Fulfilling all requirements of departmental competencies is expected. Department specific job functions involve providing direct care of CVICU patients. The RN maintains a clean and tidy work environment. Maintaining hospital and unit-based competencies is important. Hourly rounding on patients is required. Seeking out opportunities to assist internal and external customers proactively is expected.
