Job Summary:
The Plant Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the engineering and maintenance teams to support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of plant equipment and facilities. This role oversees capital projects, equipment upgrades, preventative maintenance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with leadership and project management skills to drive operational excellence across the plant.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the plant's engineering, maintenance, and technical services teams.
  • Develop and execute maintenance strategies and preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Oversee capital improvement projects, including equipment selection, budgeting, installation, and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with operations, safety, quality, and production teams to support plant objectives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure all systems and equipment comply with OSHA, environmental, and industry safety regulations.
  • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with contractors for repair, installation, or engineering services.
  • Monitor plant utilities and energy consumption; identify and implement energy-saving projects.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including maintenance records, equipment manuals, and project reports.
  • Mentor and develop technical staff to strengthen the engineering capabilities of the organization.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
  • 5+ years of plant engineering or maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience managing capital projects and plant-wide maintenance programs.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
  • Proficient with CMMS platforms and project management tools.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience:
  • Background in lean manufacturing, TPM, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as food & beverage, pharma, or automotive.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, automation systems, and industrial utilities (HVAC, boilers, air compressors, etc.).
