Position overview

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing day to day accounting operations and supporting the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with special projects.

Work Location:The Jack Miller Center office in Bala Cynwyd, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia. Remote work will be considered for highly-qualified candidates.

Salary: $55,000 $75,000, negotiable with exceptional skills and qualifications.

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Daily, weekly and monthly processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Monthly close accounting
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with creation of a grant tracking and monitoring system
• Assist with preparation for external audits and annual Form 990
• Business requirements gathering for financial system upgrades
• Assist CFO with updates of accounting policies and procedures
• Assist CFO with benefits administration and various HR projects
• Special projects as needed

Skills and Requirements

• Commitment to the mission of the Jack Miller Center
• Bachelor of Science or Arts degree in Accounting preferred (Finance degree considered with demonstrated accounting skills and experience).
• 1-3 years of public accounting and/or industry experience
• Outstanding communication skills and a positive attitude
• Knowledge of QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop required
• Intermediate-level Excel Skills required
• Not for profit experience preferred
