Staff Accountant

Location: Wellington, FL 33414
Salary: $70,000 per year

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant with advanced Excel skills and a strong work ethic. The ideal candidate will be proactive, able to handle a large volume of tasks, and have a hands-on approach to getting the job done. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records, tracking the organization's assets, liabilities, profits, losses, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform general cost accounting and related duties.
  • Process accounts receivable (A/R) and accounts payable (A/P).
  • Maintain the general ledger by recording entries and managing files.
  • Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books.
  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks.
  • Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
  • Manage accounts receivable collections.
  • Verify and complete payment of invoices related to accounts payable, ensuring appropriate account charging.
  • Assist outside auditors by providing necessary account information and documents for the annual audit.
  • Coordinate with software vendors to maintain and update the accounting software system.
  • Manage the purchasing and invoicing system.
  • Stay current on accounting practices and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Core Skills & Competencies:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • In-depth knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to prepare tax reports correctly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Experience with accounting software.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field required.
  • Three to five years of experience in a private industry tax accounting capacity.
  • Experience with month-end accruals, bank reconciliations, and journal entries required.
  • Experience with cost accounting is highly preferred.
  • Experience in a CPA firm.
