CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Overview:
Bright Beginnings Childcare Center is committed to providing a nurturing, educational, and safe environment for young children. We are seeking an Assistant Teacher that supports the Lead Teacher in implementing classroom activities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment, and promoting the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development of children. This role requires a patient, caring, and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with young children and collaborating with a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in supervising and ensuring the safety and well-being of children at all times.
- Support the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing daily curriculum and learning activities.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
- Model positive guidance techniques and behavior management strategies.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with children, families, and staff.
- Observe and document children’s development and behavior as directed.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training as required.
- Comply with state licensing regulations and Bright Beginnings’ policies and procedures.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED required; early childhood education coursework preferred.
- Prior experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting is a plus.
- Must meet all state licensing requirements including background checks.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
REQUIREMENTS:
- Enroll in WV STARS Career Pathway
- Complete 15 hours of approved training annually
- Child abuse and neglect training
- Ability to actively participate in children’s activities, including sitting on the floor, bending, lifting up to 40 lbs, and moving quickly in case of emergency.
- Must be able to remain alert and respond to the needs of children consistently.
