Overview Corps Program Director role at The Salvation Army Southern California. Location: Phoenix Citadel Corps. Status: FT/40hrs/wk with a flex schedule to meet program needs. This position focuses on program and relational ministry, including planning and anticipated outcomes, with an emphasis on engaging youth, young adults, and the broader corps community.

Under the direction of the corps officer(s), the corps program director will provide relevant and meaningful programs and activities for children, youth and adults in the corps. The role is outcome-based with expected results over an agreed period, such as increased youth and young adult attendance and involvement, achieved by recruiting and connecting people from the community with corps ministry. Responsibilities

Outreach: assist corps officers with programs such as Fellowship Events, Bible Study, Youth Character Building Programs, Sunday School; bridge after-school programs with core corps activities; network and connect the community with corps programs; visit families involved in youth programs; plan quarterly activities to link parents with the Corps; coordinate VBS and/or summer day camp; recruit volunteers; develop visionary programs meeting community needs; coordinate van/bus routes and transport to programs; participate in the annual Christmas Kettle program and Angel Tree. Discipleship: ensure regular discipleship programs for teens and for children ages 6-12 (e.g., Junior Soldier meetings); coordinate and conduct weekly Sunday school openings and teach the class when required; lead a young adult ministry group at the corps. Leadership: recruit and train leaders in youth development; oversee Child Safety records and volunteer training per Salvation Army policy; plan bi-monthly leadership meetings and maintain minutes; provide leadership to various youth programs; develop a volunteering and mentoring program with adults; coordinate recruitment for camps and other events; prepare monthly statistics and youth reports for corps officers and DHQ; serve on the Corps Council and other committees; provide quarterly progress reports to Corps Officers. Music: coordinate and provide leadership for corps music groups (youth and adult); assist with rehearsals, performances, and special musical events. Special Projects: organize seasonal programs (e.g., School Supplies distribution, Christmas toys); assist with Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners; handle other duties as assigned related to the Corps Program Director role. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Must maintain compliance with Protect the Mission policies of The Salvation Army. Uniformed Salvationist in good standing. Knowledge of The Salvation Army beliefs and practices; live in accordance with TSA and Biblical standards. Knowledge of The Salvation Army youth work and/or USA Salvation Army programs. Must be 21 years or older and possess or obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License; pass a driving record check. Ability to drive Salvation Army vehicles (including 14- and 25-passenger buses); must be able to obtain CDL by end of probation if not currently in possession. Demonstrated experience in working with youth workers in a team or supervisory role. Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work with a wide age range. Demonstrated ability in program planning and management; ability to build and maintain relationships with staff, volunteers, and congregants. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to handle social and multimedia platforms for the corps.
