Overview
Location: Vancouver, WA Salary range: $125,766.00 to $157,208.00 This position leads the System Administration team in Avangrid Renewables. The team manages administration and support for the enterprise operating systems, storage, and mainframe for Avangrid Renewables. It provides infrastructure services to Corporate and O&M Real Time Applications. The infrastructure is integrated in the Avangrid infrastructure ecosystem and globally part of the Iberdrola Global Infrastructure. The System Admin Manager will ensure Renewables server and storage infrastructure demands are met and will manage and mentor staff as needed. The successful candidate will possess a high level of technical expertise in infrastructure architecture and systems integration, along with excellent management skills. Key Responsibilities Manages Mainframe, Central, Distributed and Storage Systems hardware, software, services and resources (people, processes, and technology) within the Wintel, UNIX, and Mainframe Systems domain, including multiple operating systems that run the main business and IT applications (e.g., SAP, CCS, Mobility, GIS, Exchange, ETRM, etc.). Define technological direction of the team in accordance with Avangrid and Global Standards; act as escalation point for technical items; Main Systems Architect. Coordinate with peers in Avangrid and Global (CTO) to ensure adherence to global infrastructure blueprints and roadmaps. Handle task prioritization, task assignment, task status reporting, and overall lifecycle and project planning. Manage budget, dossiers, contract spend approvals and reports on budget variances. Communicate employee feedback, research and resolve employee questions, and report performance appraisal results. Maintain and develop required skills of staff. Ensure the delivery of services in line with IT metrics and processes. Provide leadership for client-led and IT-led projects. Work closely with the corporate application support team to enable solid infrastructure; perform, coordinate, and manage tasks to ensure business success of the application environment. Work closely with the O&M application support team (GCS) to enable solid infrastructure. Work with both technical and non-technical staff to create a resilient and highly available infrastructure for systems operations. Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of a solid information security infrastructure, with attention to regulatory issues such as NERC CIPs. Lead consolidation and integration to enable server infrastructure consolidation following Global Standard. Responsible for DR solutions in AVANGRID Renewables, for both Corporate and O&M Applications. Manage core vendor relationships. Ensure projects are correctly managed within the team, including project creation and approval following IT procedures; monitor projects in IT tools (e.g., Clarity).
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 7 years managing complex technical projects/efforts in the field of Server Administration. 7 years managing complex efforts with demanding customers. Solid experience using Windows system administration or MCSE; Microsoft Active Directory. Demonstrated SQL Server administration. Management skills including staff development and budget. Strong overall understanding of relevant business procedures. Excellent team leadership. Prior management, supervision, and/or project management experience. High-level understanding of operating systems and infrastructure architecture. Vendor management experience. 2 years VMware ESXi administration, across multiple SAN/WAN protocols, in clustered and non-clustered environments. 2 years VDI experience. 2 years Backup System Experience (Symantec NetBackup/Backup Exec).
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge in Information Security or CISSP certification. Knowledge in RSA SecurID. Experience with or knowledge of Disaster Recovery philosophies and methodologies, including practical experience. Experience with or knowledge of Business Continuity philosophies and methodologies, including practical experience. Knowledge in Linux system administration. Knowledge in network design. Knowledge in Network Appliance configuration/support (Storage infrastructure, caching appliances, Operations Management, SAN protocols, SnapMirror). Knowledge in System Center or other centralized management technologies. Knowledge in Symantec Antivirus using centralized management tools.
