Role purpose The In-House Lawyer - Conflicts provides high-quality, proactive support on conflicts of interest and other business acceptance matters. The role acts as a trusted adviser to the business, developing strong working relationships and taking responsibility for identifying solutions and driving them forward with a high degree of autonomy. Key relationships

Partners and Fee Earners Practice Group Heads, Sector Heads, and Managing Partners The Risk Function Responsibilities

Analyze and resolve professional, legal, regulatory and commercial issues relating to business acceptance and client engagement, focusing on business/commercial conflicts and professional/legal conflicts. Perform initial assessments on anti-money laundering, sanctions, reputational and suitability issues in new business assessments and coordinate with BAU specialist teams to resolve issues. Refer commercial issues to relevant stakeholders, including practice group heads and office/regional heads. Exercise judgment on when to refer business acceptance issues to team leads or senior BAU members. Respond to fee earners’ requests related to business acceptance and client engagement to meet service levels. Assist the Engagement Terms team with reviewing and drafting conflicts provisions within engagement terms, client relationship terms and client panel terms. Monitor changes in practice, professional rules, and law affecting business acceptance and client engagement globally; reflect changes in BAU policies. Assist in creating precedents and resources for use within BAU and client engagement teams. Assist in developing and implementing the firm’s global business acceptance and client engagement policies. Monitor information barriers, set up information barriers, and respond to queries on firm procedures. Design, implement and deliver training related to risk management, business acceptance and client engagement. Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience in conflicts of interest within a law firm. J.D. required. Preferably admitted in NY, DC, or TX. International experience with a leading top-tier firm is advantageous with multi-jurisdictional transactions or dispute resolution. Commercial mindedness with a strong legal skill set. Ability to analyze facts, make recommendations, and resolve legal and commercial issues with sound judgement. Excellent task management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks. Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with all levels. This role is open for individuals based in any U.S. office. For New York-based applicants, the estimated annual base salary range is $139,000 - $213,000; actual base salary will depend on qualifications and other factors permitted by law.
