Position Summary
We are seeking a high-caliber Senior Fund Accountant to join our Private Credit fund accounting team. This role demands strong accounting acumen, operational ownership, and the ability to work independently and proactively. You will manage the full accounting lifecycle for complex credit funds, interface with key internal stakeholders, and be relied upon to identify and resolve issues before they escalate. Duties and Responsibilities
Receive and field all incoming investor inquiries via IR inbox/IR phone line Fund oversight & close process Manage all aspects of general ledger accounting for assigned investment partnerships Perform and review cash and position reconciliations; resolve breaks with minimal supervision Prepare and finalize quarterly and annual closings, including NAV reporting, partner allocations, and performance fee calculations Prepare or review capital activity transactions (capital calls, distributions, reallocations) Calculate fund-level returns and investor-level IRRs and ROIs Review or prepare financial statements and support footnote disclosures Technology & process ownership Utilize systems such as Investran, WSO, and Salesforce for accounting entries, reports, and analytics Understand the data flow between systems and recommend or implement process improvements Assist with model standardization, PowerBI reporting, and process documentation Cross-functional collaboration Act as a liaison to Investor Relations, Operations, Portfolio Management, Tax, and Legal teams Serve as an initial point of contact for auditors and assist with audit requests and support documentation Proactively prepare reports or analyses for the deal team and other internal stakeholders Leadership and mentorship Review work prepared by junior staff and external providers (CES, TPAs); provide feedback and coaching Escalate critical issues timely and work with team leads to troubleshoot and implement solutions Participate in department initiatives and actively contribute to the firm's performance culture Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 4+ years of progressive fund accounting or financial reporting experience within the alternative investment space, preferably with exposure to credit Solid understanding of GAAP, partnership accounting, and performance-based fee calculations Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of Investran and/or WSO is preferred Previous experience with public accounting or fund audits is a plus Preferred Attributes
Self-starter with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment High attention to detail and ownership mindset; able to manage multiple workstreams Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including experience collaborating across departments Demonstrates initiative in improving systems and processes and mentoring junior team members Performance Expectations
Understand key terms and metrics for assigned funds (e.g., investment period, revolver availability, unrealized/realized carry) Display deep knowledge of fund structure, investor profiles, and regulatory reporting deliverables Volunteer for cross-functional projects and build relationships across Kayne departments Ready to work extended hours and respond to time-sensitive requests when needed Compensation: The total compensation for this position, including the base salary and annual bonus, is expected to range between $90,000-$120,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Employment with the company is contingent on the applicant being able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States at the time of hire.
