To shelve books and other library materials, and to help make library materials readily available to the public. To keep the library clean and orderly. Hours: 13 per week Set Schedule: Wednesdays 9am - 1pm Thursdays 9am - 1pm Fridays 9am - 1pm Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Shelving books and other library materials. Making sure shelves are in order ("shelf reading"). Moving materials to different areas of the library. Refilling copy machine paper, scratch paper, and pencils. Assisting library staff as needed with tasks, including making photocopies and setting up displays. Tidying areas of the library, including tables and children's play equipment. Attending and participating in staff meetings. Checking and responding to staff email. Dusting. Other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
MINIUMUM REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience
High school student. Experience in customer service; and public library experience is preferred.
Technical Skills
Must be able to alphabetize and put numbers in order, including decimals. Must be able to use a computer, the Internet, email, and word processing. Must be able to read, alphabetize, and communicate both verbally and in writing in the English language. Must be able to take instruction and direction from a number of different people. Must be willing to ask questions. Must be able to work independently.

SUPERVISION
RECEIVED Works under the direct supervision of the Children's Librarian and the general direction of the Library Director. In accordance with City policy and applicable law, the following deductions may be made from your payroll checks:
Federal and State withholding for taxes, Social Security, Medicare, pre-tax life insurance, garnishments, etc. Statutorily required PERA contributions (Public Employee Retirement Association). Insurance premiums for health, life, dental, STD, and other elected coverages. Elected contributions to deferred compensation, H.S.A. funding, and flexible benefit programs. Elected contributions to credit unions or other banks.
