Drive daily fixed routes for the transportation of children to/from the center. Schedule regular maintenance of the vehicle(s) to ensure vehicles are in proper operating condition and meet all highway and Head Start safety regulations. Perform daily Pre and Post inspections of the bus for each trip to ensure and maintain proper maintenance. Responsible for keeping the vehicle clean. Responsible for performing visual checks and documenting that at the end of every trip no child has been left on the bus. Must always supervise and monitor children by following Active Supervision procedures, policies, and strategies to ensure no child is ever left unsupervised. Responsible for notifying the Transportation Coordinator or the Head Start Director and Center Manager immediately, if problems arise either before or after picking up and delivering children to the center or to their homes. Ensure that Bus Aides, parents, family members, authorized pick-up persons, and children follow Head Start policies and procedures for safe transportation, pickup and drop-off of passengers. Ensures that documentation and recordkeeping, both manually and electronically, are timely and accurately completed and maintained as required by program policies and procedures. Ensure that children are always correctly released to their Authorized person(s). Complete semi-annual Emergency Bus Evacuations drills with Bus Aide and bus riders. Maintain a valid CPR/First Aid certification and responsible for the First Aide Kit on the bus. (CPR/First Aid training is provided by CCAA.) Supervise and train Bus Aide in their responsibilities on the bus. Responsible for assisting in all areas of the Center, including but not limited to, relieving classroom staff when they need a break, participating in active supervision when the students are engaged in outdoor play, performing daily visual external checks of facility, participating in general cleaning/sanitizing of the center, or other duties as deemed necessary by the Center Manager. Attend all required meetings and training. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Transportation Coordinator or Center Manager. Requirements

Must have a High School Diploma or GED. Must have a current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and maintain the license. Ability to lift and carry a 40-60-pound child or other objects. Must be able to pass physical/medical requirements as a CDL driver. Must be able to maintain Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / First Aid certification. Must be responsible and dependable and possess patience, emotional stability and love for children. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate positively with parents, staff, and children. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Good vision and hearing.Able to use technology, such as smart phones, tablets, or laptops to complete job duties. Able to perform the following or similar tasks with or without reasonable accommodation: Open and close a manually / air powered operated bus entrance door control with a force of at least 30 pounds. Climb and descend steps with a maximum step height of 17-1/2 inches. Operate two hand controls simultaneously and quickly. Have a reaction time of 3/4 of a second or less from the throttle to the brake control and depress a brake pedal with the foot to a pressure of at least 125 pounds. Carry a child or children to safety. Exit from an emergency door opening of 24 x 48 inches at least 42 inches from the ground in ten seconds or less. Open all emergency exits installed on any school bus they drive.
