Assumes primary responsibility for patient care including examination, evaluation, treatment planning, and administration of Respiratory Care procedures in response to a physician's order. Essential Responsibilities

Assess patient condition based on medical history, observation, examination, physician's diagnosis, laboratory findings, and the results of specific tests or respiratory function and other appropriate diagnostic procedures. Develop or modify the respiratory care plan and make specific recommendations to physicians regarding indicated therapy. Administer appropriate diagnostic tests and procedures to evaluate responses to therapy, including arterial blood gas sampling, oxygen saturation measurement, end-tidal CO2 measurement, pulmonary mechanics, spirometry, metabolic testing, and assist with procedures like bronchoscopy. Develop a patient care plan based on clinical presentation at reassessment. Respond to respiratory emergencies such as high-risk deliveries, cardiopulmonary arrest, and trauma team activations. Maintain artificial airways and provide ventilation support during patient transport for tests or procedures. Evaluate home care equipment needs, make referrals, and initiate patient and caregiver teaching. Document all observations and modifications in treatment plans. Required Qualifications

Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or Cardiopulmonary Science. Respiratory Therapist License, Registration as a Respiratory Therapist, and Basic Life Support certification. 0-1 years of related work experience. Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office suite. Competencies

Capable of providing patient care across age groups: Neonatal, Youth, Young adult, Middle Age, Elderly. Physical Nature of the Job

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently. Requires standing and moving during shifts. Beth Israel Lahey Health requires all staff to be vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19 as a condition of employment.
