Overview Position Summary:

Reporting to the Facility Medical Director, the PMHNP provides comprehensive behavioral health care to adult patients in inpatient or outpatient settings, focusing on those with complex mental health needs served by the state's mental health authority, including forensic cases.

Responsibilities

Provide holistic behavioral health care, including psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up, within the scope of practice and licensure.

Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications, including performing AIMS testing as required.

Assess patients’ capacity for making informed treatment decisions.

Collaborate with community providers to ensure continuity of care and develop discharge/aftercare plans.

Participate in performance improvement and compliance activities.

Order labs and diagnostic tests, obtain histories, perform physical exams, and document findings clearly.

Make timely referrals and initiate treatments per policies.

Document care plans and patient progress accurately.

Implement safe, cost-effective care using approved therapeutic regimens.

Serve as a resource and provide instructions to other professionals and staff.

Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

MSN or DNP with a concentration in psychiatric mental health nursing; Board certification (PMHNP-BC).

Current, unrestricted licensure as a PMHNP in Massachusetts.

Ability to obtain Federal DEA Registration and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Certificate.

Preferably, 2 years of prescriptive experience with adolescents.

Additional Information This is a hospital-based position at Worcester Recovery Center, 100% on-site. The candidate should have experience in adolescent psychiatry, including treatment planning for complex cases, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based psychopharmacology. The role involves working with adolescents with mental health challenges, including those at risk of harm, aiming to support recovery and least restrictive environments.
