Your Role:

As a Die Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the flawless operation of our dies and tooling systems. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Primary Contact: Act as the first line of support for die issues identified by press operators and inspectors, addressing defects like burrs, scratches, and out-of-tolerance conditions.
  • Problem Solving: Review parts and stamped strips to trace and diagnose defects beyond the visual point, working through various tooling components to identify and address the root cause.
  • Tool Maintenance: Determine and implement procedures to correct problems, including pulling and replacing tooling components such as pierce punches, slot punches, and more.
  • Collaborate with Engineering: Work alongside Engineering or Tool & Die Makers to align die sections to print specifications, ensuring proper die level, profile clearances, and complex forming stations.
  • Precision Work: Polish and fit die parts to meet quality standards, using inspection instruments to check tolerances and ensure precision.
  • Setup and Adjustment: Set up new dies, adjust feed mechanisms, and manage die changes to accommodate different part numbers and materials.
  • Continuous Improvement: Collaborate on new and complex dies, contributing to the development and fine-tuning of tooling for optimal performance.

What We're Looking For:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Mechanical knowledge and skill are essential.
  • Precision Machining schooling or degree, or 8-10 years of die repair experience preferred.

Skills & Qualities:

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members.
  • Pressure Handling: Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Independence: Strong ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and complete assignments within given parameters.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on your feet for extended periods, and perform repetitive actions involving frequent bending and stooping.
  • Visual Acuity: Ability to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts with precision.
