Line Mechanic (Maintenance Mechanic)

Phoenix, AZ 85043
Pay: $19–$25/hr (based on experience)
Shifts: 10–12 hour shifts, 5 days/week (with possible 6). Day/Night shifts rotate every 3 months (2:30am–2:30pm or 2:30pm–2:30am).
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Line Mechanic to support and maintain production machinery in a busy tile manufacturing plant. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining tile line equipment, as well as auxiliary machinery. You’ll work closely with supervisors, mechanics, and line workers to ensure machines run safely and efficiently.

This is a hands-on, skilled position requiring strong mechanical knowledge, welding, troubleshooting, and the ability to work in demanding industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety and lockout/tagout procedures before performing maintenance or repairs.

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain tile line equipment (tile machine, grouper, racker, cars, packager, etc.).

  • Read downtime reports and follow repair checklists to keep production running.

  • Remove and replace motors, chains, sprockets, gear boxes, pulleys, and other worn parts.

  • Disassemble and rebuild motors and mechanical components.

  • Perform preventative maintenance and report required repairs/parts to supervisor.

  • Assist in training and supporting other mechanics.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and line workers to identify and resolve issues.

Requirements

  • Experience: At least 3 years of mechanical work in a production environment preferred.

  • Skills:

    • Welding and gas torch cutting.

    • Motor replacement and alignment.

    • Knowledge of conveyors, mixing systems, extrusion, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

    • Ability to read schematics, downtime reports, and checklists in English.

    • Skilled in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

    • Comfortable using hand tools, air tools, and electrical hand tools.

  • Physical Ability:

    • Lift/carry 35–50 lbs regularly; occasionally up to 100 lbs.

    • Bend, kneel, twist, and stand for 8–10 hours per shift, 6–7 days per week.

    • Hear and recognize machine malfunctions and alarms in noisy environments.

  • Other Requirements:

    • Must supply own hand tools (wrenches, hammer, screwdrivers, etc.).

    • Clean background check and 7-panel drug test.

    • Valid I-9 and E-Verify required.

    • Steel-toe work boots and gloves required (PPE).

    • Forklift certification (or ability to certify within 90 days).

Work Environment

  • Loud, dusty industrial setting with cement and sand in the air.

  • Indoor facility (not climate controlled) with occasional outdoor repair work.

  • Overtime is common (up to 4 extra hours per day).

  • May be required to work 6–7 days a week or be placed on call.

  • Must wear required PPE and issued uniform at all times.
