Summary

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, using validated mechanical, technical, physical, and communication skills and experience to maintain a safe, reliable, and comfortable healthcare environment. The role involves carrying out daily corrective and preventative maintenance routines, staying current with technological issues, and contributing positively to patient care. The position also offers opportunities to gain healthcare certification and perform tasks at a higher level under supervision or as directed.

Responsibilities

1. Plumbing and Pipe Fitting (25%): Perform plumbing tasks, replace worn/damaged pipes and fixtures, maintain waste lines, filters, and install plumbing fixtures. Service water softeners, domestic hot and cold water systems, and maintain medical gas systems and components. Respond to plumbing emergencies and repair steam delivery systems.
2. Carpentry (25%): Complete rough and finish carpentry, build and repair cabinets and shelves, install and repair doors, windows, ceilings, drywall, and perform masonry repairs. Read and implement work from drawings and work orders.
3. Safety and Self-Management (25%): Work safely and independently, assist with fire safety training, hazardous waste programs, and strive for professional advancement through various educational opportunities.
4. Facility Security and Emergency Response (25%): Ensure facility security, respond to emergencies (e.g., Code Gray, Pink, Red, etc.), and perform security duties such as door locking and parking lot observations.

Other Duties

Perform general maintenance, troubleshoot and repair patient room and facility equipment, review manufacturer specifications, assist external service personnel, perform transfers/moves, conduct scheduled inspections, and report unsafe conditions. Perform basic electrical services, install new equipment, and demonstrate competency in Microsoft Windows as part of our technology-driven environment.

Certifications and Licensures

• DMVCHECK - DMV Record Check
• CERT MECHA - Certified Healthcare Mechanic

Preferred: Michigan Education and Certification for Healthcare.
