Job Summary:

The General Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for the preventive maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of plant machinery and equipment to ensure uninterrupted production in a food manufacturing environment. This role supports daily operations by responding quickly to equipment issues and participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Maintenance & Repair Perform routine preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and utility systems. Diagnose and repair malfunctions in processing, packaging, refrigeration, and facility equipment. Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical systems, such as pumps, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, boilers, and HVAC. Production Support

Ensure timely equipment setups, changeovers, and repairs to minimize downtime. Assist production staff with equipment operation issues and training as needed. Safety & Compliance

Follow all safety protocols and OSHA regulations. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Ensure all equipment meets food safety and regulatory compliance standards. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment logs. Monitor parts inventory and request supplies as needed. Continuous Improvement

Identify root causes of recurring issues and recommend equipment upgrades or process improvements. Support implementation of reliability-centered maintenance strategies. Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in industrial or food manufacturing maintenance preferred. Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills. Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards is a plus. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Welding (with a stick or mig), fabrication, or refrigeration certifications are a plus. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying temperatures and conditions. Flexibility to work off-shifts, weekends, or respond to emergencies as needed. Ideal Candidate Will Be: A hands-on problem solver with attention to detail.
