Position Summary

The People and Culture Manager is a strategic and hands-on leader who oversees the employee lifecycle, workplace culture, and compliance at A Plus Tree. This role is responsible for supporting and guiding internal departments while fostering an engaging, safe, and inclusive workplace.

The People and Culture Manager leads initiatives in recruiting, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, benefits, and compliance. This role also manages workers' compensation claims, OSHA reporting, and safety programs to ensure the well-being of our team. As the primary HR point of contact, the People and Culture Manager provides guidance and support across all company locations and is responsible for ensuring compliance with employment laws in multiple states.

Responsibilities Lead and manage human resources programs, projects, and initiatives that align with company goals and values Oversee recruiting and talent acquisition including job postings, applicant screening, interviews, and offers Direct onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a seamless employee experience Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations including FMLA, paid leave programs, and ADA accommodations Manage workers' compensation claims, return to work processes, and communication with insurance carriers Prepare, submit, and maintain OSHA logs and safety-related reports while promoting a safe workplace culture Provide coaching and support to managers on employee relations, performance management, and corrective action plans Develop, communicate, and update policies, the employee handbook, and compliance postings Facilitate training programs including compliance training such as harassment prevention and workplace safety, as well as leadership development Partner with leadership to drive performance evaluation processes and employee engagement initiatives Track and report on key HR metrics including headcount, turnover, leave usage, and safety trends Manage HR systems and records ensuring accuracy and confidentiality Support company events, culture initiatives, and recognition programs that reinforce A Plus Tree values Perform all other duties as assigned Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required Five or more years of progressive HR or People Operations experience with at least two years in a leadership role Strong knowledge of HR principles, employment laws, workers' compensation, and safety compliance Proven experience in recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits administration PHR or similar certification preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint High attention to detail and accuracy with strong organizational skills Ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks in a fast-paced environment Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on collaboration and problem-solving Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism Willingness to learn, grow, and adapt to changing business needs Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred This is a hybrid position based in

Sacramento, California, or Salt Lake City, Utah
