Summary: Assists with coordination and facilitation of the Summa Health Stroke Program. The Stroke Registrar assists the Neurology Team and Quality Department with monitoring Stroke core performance and quality measures and activities directly related to Summa Health Stroke Center Certifications (presently PSC, TSC, & CSC). Assists with monitoring and reporting of quality performance metrics to CMS, The Joint Commission, Stroke Steering/PI Committee, Endovascular Committee, Stroke Nursing PI Committee, Lab Committee, Reperfusion Committee and the Quality Department. Assures evidence-based practice as it relates to TIA/Ischemic Stroke and Hemorrhagic Stroke, including the stroke core measures as established by The Joint Commission. The RN Stroke Registrar assists with facilitating Stroke Awareness community services, as requested, acts as a resource to APP Stroke Coordinator, Neurology team members, clinical staff in the Stroke Program, as well as the Quality staff at Summa Health. Assists the APP Stroke Program Coordinator with the collection and analyses of Stroke Program outcomes data. Assists the APP Stroke Program Coordinator, Stroke Navigator, and RN Stroke Coordinator for Summa Health System by overseeing stroke quality metrics, reports, trends, and constant updates/changes applicable to the stroke population.
Formal Education Required: a. Bachelor of Science in Nursing. b. Graduate of a program of professional nursing that is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). c. Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio.
Experience and Training Required: a. Two (2) years of experience in nursing care. b. Critical Care experience preferred. c. Experience should include adult care of stroke patient population requiring management of multiple co-morbid illnesses. d. Abstraction experience. e. ICD 10 code understanding preferred. f. The Joint Commission and Core Measure stroke core measure abstraction preferred.

Ability to work effectively within a team environment by accepting and offering honest and constructive feedback c. Demonstrates leadership skills d. Excellent analytical and organizational skills e. Strong verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to educate via various methodologies and forums (in-person, group, remote, web based, telephonic, etc.) f. Ability to direct or coordinate the work of others g. Knowledge of electronic medical records h. Knowledge and use of various Microsoft software and database applications i. Ability to analyze, use clinical research outcomes, and aggregate data effectively. j. Ability to be open minded, objective and self-directed in executing responsibilities within a team structure. Proactive approach to problem-solving.
Level of Physical Demands: a. Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
