Sr. Energy Storage Network Engineer - Renewables
Location:
FULL-TIME REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA)
This is an opportunity to join an industry-leading renewable energy venture with strong private equity backing, focused on the development, execution, and operations of dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects.
They are at the forefront of the industry, having accumulated over 9GW of projects in a relatively short period, and are currently in an accelerated expansion phase which includes adding a Sr. Network Engineer to the Asset Management Team.
This is a business-critical role that will help drive the Asset Management strategy in Operational Technology (OT), Network Engineering, Telecommunication Systems, and Automated Control Systems across the portfolio. It is a hands-on role that involves leading the development of network/communication control system architecture and methodologies for innovative utility-scale renewable energy projects involving battery storage technology. The control system architecture will also integrate with a proprietary in-house data-driven decision-making technology platform.

Act as an SME for all network management, control center design, telecommunication engineering, and operational technology.
Take ownership of control systems architecture, integrations, algorithms, network models, and conceptual design build-outs based on ISO/RTO requirements.
Lead the design and configuration of LANs and WANs networking systems for project hardware such as firewalls, routers, switches, servers, and supporting wireless technology.
Oversee and manage the strategy for OT Network performance, monitoring, troubleshooting, including supervising third-party contractors.
Provide technical assessments of grid-tied inverter software and hardware solutions, including plant commissioning and construction.
Drive cybersecurity, system recovery, backup, and security audit processes across the asset fleet.
Lead stakeholder communication with Renewable Developers, Regulatory bodies, ISOs, and internal partners regarding OT network and telecommunications.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline (Electrical, Power Control Systems Architecture, Network Engineering, Telecommunications, IC&E, Automation Systems).
Experience in OT network engineering commissioning, site reviews, and project execution.
Ability to provide critical input on technical assessments of utility-scale renewable energy grid-tied inverter solutions.
Proficiency in writing/defining telecommunication network operational scopes, conceptual design, and technical requirements.
Experience diagnosing network performance issues using tools like Wireshark and NMAP.
Knowledge of network security measures, including firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco), intrusion detection, and encryption.
Understanding of communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, TCP/IP).
Strong cybersecurity practices aligned with NERC/CIP and NIST standards.
Skill in designing, configuring, and maintaining WAN and LAN systems.
Proven expertise in TCP/IP services, managing Cisco/Palo Alto/Fortinet firewalls, DMZ, IP routing, VLANs, fiber optics, and related standards.
Familiarity with OT hardware/software (Ignition, PLC, RTU) is preferred.
Basic scripting knowledge (batch, shell).
