Under general supervision and in accordance with the guidelines established by the Mammography Supervisor and the Radiologist, performs Mammography and related clerical service duties.

I. Major Responsibilities:
Operate Mammography Equipment and perform Mammography Exams; assess each patient physically and psychologically, adjusting procedures as needed using universal protocol and sterile techniques. Demonstrate breast self-examination if required.
Record pertinent breast history and note any discomfort or medical complaints relevant to the Radiologist.
Follow departmental policies, procedures, and safety protocols. Document work accurately in HIS/RIS/PACS and PEN RAD systems.
Assist in other areas/modalities as needed.
Maintain all accessory equipment (paddles, detectors, work area).
Stay updated on developments in Mammography and complete required continuing education. Responsible for Quality Control as designated by supervisor.
Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities:
Follow departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
Attend meetings, conferences, and seminars as required.
Use Quality Improvement in daily operations.
Comply with health and safety regulations.
Respect diverse views, demonstrate professionalism, tolerance, civility, and acceptance.
Maintain reliable and predictable attendance.
Perform other duties as required or directed.
All responsibilities are essential job functions.
II. Position Qualifications: License/Certification/Education:
Registration in Diagnostic Radiology and Mammography by ARRT.
Licensed by the State of Massachusetts as a mammography technologist.
BLS healthcare provider certification required before the end of the 90-day probationary period.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
Knowledge equivalent to an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology.
Preferred:
Prior experience in the field.
Equivalent education and experience may be substituted where appropriate. Department-specific competencies will be developed and maintained locally.
