Apply today to make a difference with us. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Handle high-exposure, complex bodily injury and property damage claims across the United States (excluding New York). Manage all aspects of claim handling, including fact investigation, coverage analysis, claim evaluation, and litigation management. Evaluate claims, develop case resolution strategies, and independently handle mediations and trials in complex claims. Develop and implement claim resolution strategies, identifying claims suitable for trial. Select, retain, and direct appropriate defense counsel on litigated cases. Collaborate with Underwriting on industry trends, case law, or statutory developments affecting product lines. Assist Underwriters in reviewing policy submissions as needed. Lead special projects and perform other duties as assigned. Travel occasionally for mediations and trials as necessary. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in business administration, insurance, or a related field. 8+ years of relevant legal or insurance experience with general liability claims. Juris Doctorate with relevant insurance coverage or defense litigation experience is advantageous. Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies Extensive experience handling liability claims involving bodily injury and property damage, with significant exposure under primary and excess policies, across various U.S. jurisdictions, especially the South, Southeast, and California. Strong knowledge of case law, statutes, and procedures impacting general liability claims. Experience with claims for construction, premises liability, marine, etc., is beneficial. Proactive investigation, risk transfer, strategic claim handling, attorney management, and sophisticated resolution skills are essential. Excellent writing and communication skills for effective interaction with insureds, claimants, underwriters, team members, and management. Compensation Overview The base salary range is $121,763 - $177,469, with total rewards including bonuses, stock ownership, 401(k), and other benefits. Salary will depend on location, experience, and qualifications.
