Primary Functions: This position provides leadership for all nursing associates at NCCJ, including strategic planning, continuous improvement, ensuring evidence-based care delivery, benchmarked quality patient service and outcomes, and the impetus for change when necessary. This position is responsible for the ongoing development of the shared governance model for Nursing. It works collaboratively with the Chief Nurse Executive, Nursing Leaders, Administrators, Medical Leadership, and physicians. The role models Nemours Standards of Behavior and actively supports Nemours Mission, Vision, and Values. Essential Functions: Ensure the nursing staff provides quality, family-centered patient care by setting entry criteria, making final hiring decisions, monitoring privileging processes, ensuring job descriptions align with national standards, overseeing evaluations, and leading corrective actions, counseling, or termination to maintain staff competency. Participate in sustaining the growth of a community-based pediatric nursing care model and establish community standards for pediatric nursing. Serve as the organizational liaison for NCCJ/FL nursing at community, state, and national levels. Maintain oversight of nursing services within the organization and evaluate their effectiveness concerning patient care and community impact. Make decisions regarding the allocation, distribution, and assignment of nursing resources and support for clinical activities. Participate in budget and salary discussions for nursing in collaboration with the Chief Nurse Executive FL, NCCJ Practice Administrator, and Medical Director. Promote the development of Nursing Shared Governance to enhance nurse engagement in evidence-based practice. Encourage research ideas, test hypotheses, and modify nursing practices based on research findings, sharing results through publications and presentations. Promote integration of pediatric nursing practice, education, and research through academic affiliations, learning environments for students, and participation in nursing forums. Conduct performance appraisals for direct reports and ensure all nursing staff are evaluated per NCH expectations. Ensure nursing staff compliance with regulatory agencies. Job Requirements: Master's of Science in Nursing required; PhD or DNP preferred. Minimum of 5 years pediatric nursing experience; previous management and leadership experience preferred. BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Active FL nursing licenses.
