Summary:

To provide high quality nursing care and staff training, develop and monitor medical plans, manage medication systems, and maintain health records while also improving safety practices.


Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Work from home eligible: No

Hours: Business hours (8:00AM-4PM typically)


Duties/Responsibilities:

· Provide basic first aid, emergency care, and nursing assessment and nursing treatment to persons served.

· Develop, monitor and update Risk, Health, Wellness and other medical related plans for persons served.

· Teach classes, provide a training schedule and documentation for CPR, First Aid, Infection/Exposure Control, Back Safety/Body Mechanics, Hoyer Lift and other medical/safety topics for staff.

· Develop, monitor and update medication administration systems and enteral feeding systems to ensure medications and enteral feedings are administered as prescribed and properly documented.

· Utilize agency database to maintain accurate health, medication and nursing records of persons served.

· Assist with the intake and referral process, ensuring that individuals have the required medical documentation before starting services.

· Provide counseling to persons served and families regarding nutrition, hygiene, medications, medical conditions, etc. as needed or requested.

· Monitor safety conditions and make recommendations to improve safety practices across the agency.

· Communicate with persons served, staff, families, service providers, medical providers and other internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities

· Professional knowledge of nursing treatment, documentation, regulations and operating procedures.

· Ability to remain calm in emergency situations.

· Ability to participate as an effective team member.

· Excellent customer service skills.


Education and Experience:

· Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse licensed in the State of Indiana in good standing.

· Six months nursing experience preferred.

· Experience working with individuals with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities preferred.

· Current CPR certification, current on all other trainings as defined by state, accreditation body or organizational guidelines.
