GSE Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled GSE Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong experience in mechanical testing and troubleshooting, with the ability to read schematics and perform electrical testing. This role requires a personal set of basic tools, specifically a rolling tool box, to effectively perform preventative maintenance and repairs on Ground Support Equipment (GSE), such as baggage carts and deicing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform light and heavy repairs on GSE equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair engine mechanical issues, including diesel, gas, and LP engines.
  • Troubleshoot and repair A/C and D/C electrical systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic flow schematics.
  • Possess knowledge of Generators 400 Hz and 28 volt.
  • Utilize computer software to diagnose Powertrain Management Systems.
  • Repair 80 and 48 volt DC systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Airstart systems.
  • Engage in ongoing training to enhance equipment knowledge.
  • Maintain productivity and complete vehicle repair orders accurately and timely.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in heavy maintenance diesel and/or electrical work.
  • Experience in GSE is preferred, with strong knowledge of gas and diesel engines.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Vocational training certificate or equivalent work experience.
  • Capability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to attain an Airport-issued ID badge.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical testing and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to perform electrical testing and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance and repair of GSE equipment.
  • Experience with hand tools and troubleshooting engines and mechanical systems.

Work Environment

The work environment is based in a hangar that is heated in the winter and cooled with large fans in the summer. The team consists of 20 mechanics in Boston, divided into shifts of 7 mechanics each. There is also an off-site location for larger projects, such as full vehicle overhauls, with the same work environment as the hangar.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boston, Massachusetts.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
