Job Description:

Summary:

The Student Administrative Worker will support the Facilities and Operations functions of the School of Public Affairs Dean's Office. The students will assist with basic office support, handle front-desk operations, and help maintain the efficiency of building-wide services. Student Worker must wear appropriate attire while working at front desk.

Essential Functions: Perform general administrative duties including scanning, copying, and printing. Staff the Kerwin Lobby front desk during scheduled shifts. Answer and route calls from the SPA main phone line. Utilize the SPA Operations email and ticketing system to manage and respond to service requests. Schedule and manage bookings for local conference rooms. Pick up and deliver mail to and from SPA departments as scheduled. Assist with student advising walk-ins and direct students to appropriate services or contacts. Support any special projects or tasks as assigned by the Facilities and Operations Coordinator. Competencies:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Professional demeanor with a customer-service mindset. Ability to work independently and handle confidential information appropriately. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace preferred. Willingness to learn internal systems (e.g., ticketing, scheduling tools). Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Part-Time. 5 - 10 hours per week. Student. Salary Range:

$17.95 per hour. Required Education and Experience:

Current American University student in good academic standing. No prior work experience required. Active Federal Work Study award. Preferred Education and Experience:

Previous office or customer service experience is a plus. All AU students are eligible to apply for this position, with a preference for those students in SPA. Other Details
