General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards as outlined in all work centers, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate is expected to engage in these tasks during all working hours and will perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require. Additional tasks may be requested in specific situations to help achieve Customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors in everything you do.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keep exits clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional at all times. Recognize fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
- Assist Customers as needed: register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably. Greet Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a greeting throughout the Store; say “thank you” at each register transaction.
- Provide prompt and efficient responses to Customers; respond to Service calls immediately and resolve issues courteously, involving Store Leadership when needed.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters/mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies) and disinfect high-touch areas to maintain store appearance.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
- Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and well-merchandised to standards.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor; merchandise items per guidelines and maintain brand-name familiarity to assist Customers.
- Understand Loss Prevention Awareness, Shortage Highway, Store Protection Specialist (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise; demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions.
- Follow MOS policies for identification, disposal review/approval by Store Leadership.
- Follow all policies for cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy with tenders.
- Demonstrate urgency and efficiency in carrying out duties and minimize steps and touches through Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/ADA
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Some assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
- Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
