Overview
General Definition and Conditions of Work: Perform skilled technical and mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of Town trucks, vehicles and equipment.
Duties include, but not limited to disassembling engines, transmissions, or other similar units in order to inspect parts for wear; repairing or replacing parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, bearings and hydraulics. Conducting inspections and participating in a preventive maintenance program to insure the safe and efficient operation of all town vehicles and related equipment.

Responsibilities
- Perform skilled technical and mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of Town trucks, vehicles and equipment.
- Disassemble engines, transmissions, or other units to inspect parts for wear; repair or replace parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, bearings and hydraulics.
- Participate in inspections and a preventive maintenance program to ensure safe and efficient operation of all town vehicles and related equipment.
Qualifications
- Completion of a standard high school course, or equivalent GED program.
- Vocational or technical certification in the Mechanic Field, electrical, air and hydraulic systems, small engine repair, metal fabrication, and shop maintenance preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a mechanic preferred.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License.
- Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License A, or the ability to obtain one within one (1) year.
- Possession of a valid Virginia State Inspection Sticker License, or the ability to obtain one within one (1) year.
