Overview
We are seeking a part-time cleaning staff member that will dedicate 6-10 hours per week at our Pittsburg Clinic in Southeast Kansas. This staff member at our SEK clinic is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for children/clients and staff. The job involves adhering to strict hygiene and safety regulations and requires using child-safe cleaning products.
Job Summary
The cleaning staff member performs routine cleaning and sanitizing tasks to ensure a healthy and organized environment for all children/clients, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, reliability, and is familiar with sanitation standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Daily cleaning and sanitation: Sweep, mop, and vacuum all floors, including classrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas.
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches, tabletops, and counters.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and countertops, and restock supplies.
- Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly.
- Immediately clean up spills and messes as they occur during operating hours.
- Program materials and equipment hygiene: Clean and sanitize program materials, play equipment, and furniture.
- Sanitize items that children/clients may put in their mouths after each use.
- Wash and disinfect all other applicable materials.
- Break area: Sweep and mop floors, particularly after meals and snacks; clean and sanitize tables and countertops; wash dishes and utensils by hand.
- Other responsibilities: Track and alert management of low stock; monitor the facility for health and safety hazards and report them to a supervisor; assist in setting up and taking down furniture or equipment for special events; clean and organize storage areas; perform deeper cleaning tasks on a weekly or monthly schedule.
Required Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a custodial or cleaning role, preferably in a childcare, school, or healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with health and safety standards and regulations for childcare or healthcare facilities.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and the safe use of cleaning products and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to lift, bend, and perform physical tasks associated with cleaning.
- Must be reliable and able to work assigned shifts.
- Successful completion of a background check.
Hourly Rate: $10/hr
Note: This position also has opportunity for advancement in the clinic.
