Job Title:
Transportation Dispatcher
Qualification: •High School Graduate or GED equivalent preferred •Two years' experience in a related field •Excellent written and verbal communication skills. •Must possess knowledge of MS Office and Google computer software programs •Ability to function at a high level in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Reports to: This person in this position reports to the Bus Center Manager
Job Goal:
The person in this position utilizes exceptional organizational and communication skills to ensure efficient and timely dispatch functions. They assist school bus drivers with real-time support and solutions, maintain accurate records, and coordinate maintenance activities. They provide excellent service to the school community.
Performance Responsibilities: •Manage dispatch functions for school bus driver issues, such as accidents. Road closures and roadblocks. Ensure drivers are promptly informed to avoid delays. •Maintain accurate records of bus driver routes. Recommend coverage options to the Manager and Supervisors to ensure timely student transport. •Coordinate the transfer of buses for maintenance with SC DOE Transportation and GCS Bus Maintenance Shops. •Assist drivers with concerns or issues on the road and around bus routes. Recommend resolutions to the bus center manager and Supervisors. •Handle mechanical issues by coordinating with maintenance shops, dispatching replacement buses and drivers, and notifying the Transportation Call Center and school administrators. •Keep a daily log of route coverage, late buses, and bus availability. Communicate late or delayed buses with the Transportation Call Center. •Distribute incoming correspondence from schools, call centers, parents, and others to the appropriate staff. •Coordinate regular maintenance and year-end transfer of buses with the state bus shops. •Coordinate the transfer of activity buses between the district bus shops, schools, and bus lots. •Perform other duties as assigned by the Bus Center Manager.
Terms of Employment:
200 Days per School Year - Salary Group: Hourly $20.00 per hour
Evaluation:
Evaluation of this job will be per School Board Policy.
Work Schedule
AM Hours - 4:30 AM to 1:30 PM with 1 hour for lunch
PM Hours - 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM with 1 hour for lunch
