Job Description: Cloud/Edge Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled
Cloud/Edge Engineer
to design, deploy, and manage cloud-connected edge systems for our restaurant network. This role will involve integrating IoT devices, optimizing edge computing infrastructure, and enabling seamless data flow between edge nodes and cloud platforms-enhancing operational efficiency and the overall guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Design hybrid cloud-edge architectures for low-latency, high-availability workloads. Deploy and manage ~1200 virtual edge clusters using
K3s (lightweight Kubernetes) . Integrate shared storage using
Rook.io , manage persistent volumes across edge nodes. Use
K0smotron
for multi-cluster Kubernetes control plane management. Extend Kubernetes functionality to IoT/edge devices with
KubeEdge . Manage centralized cloud workloads on
Google Cloud GKE . Ensure real-time synchronization between cloud and edge using
CloudCore . Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams. Required Skills & Technologies:
Kubernetes (K3s, GKE), Docker, container orchestration CloudCore & EdgeCore architecture knowledge Experience with
K0smotron, Rook.io, KubeEdge , and
Ping Identity Proficiency in
Golang ,
Python , and API-first development Observability tools:
Prometheus, FluentBit, Grafana Shared storage systems: Rook.io, SuperMicro integration VM setup and storage connectivity Strong networking knowledge: VPNs, firewalls, routing, service discovery Identity governance using OAuth/OpenID CI/CD, GitOps, and DevSecOps familiarity
