We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the repair and upkeep of the property including but not limited to barns, grandstand, office buildings, OTB parlors and grounds. To undertake a variety of tasks relating to setting up and maintaining electrical infrastructure. Your job will involve installing electrical wiring in buildings, barns and poles, troubleshooting malfunctions and blackouts, and repairing appliances. Read blueprints or technical diagrams. Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers. Identify electrical problems with testing devices. The skilled laborer is also certified/licensed in a related field.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure safety due to high risk; responsible for electrical safety precautions. Experience with various electrical devices and systems required.
• Use electrical and hand tools (e.g., wire strippers, voltmeter) effectively.
• Diagnose system malfunctions using test equipment and tools; locate and fix issues.
• Follow safety procedures and legal regulations.
• Inspect and replace wiring and cables to prevent system breakdowns.
• Operate small stationary equipment like air compressors, generators, fans, pumps, etc.
• Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, skid loaders, etc.
• Repair or replace defective equipment with hand and power tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be 21 years or older. Valid Driver’s License required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum five years relevant experience; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
