Job Summary The Cleaning Technician is responsible for the routine cleaning of patient rooms, operating rooms, recovery rooms, public areas, and office areas to ensure a clean and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Compensation $2,000 SIGN-ON BONUS

Location Methodist Hospital, 8303 Dodge St. - Omaha, NE

Work Schedule Mon-Fri 3pm to 11:30pm with every other weekend and holiday.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and services assigned areas of the facility in a timely manner by using established procedures to ensure a safe and sanitary environment for patients, customers, and staff.
  • Maintains and operates equipment safely (carts, buckets, vacuums, buffers, extractors); reports any equipment needing repairs to ensure rapid service and return to use.
  • Makes and uses chemicals and products (disinfectants, cleaners, acids, solvents, finishes) according to manufacturer directions and department procedures; ensures proper dilution and application. Obtains or requests needed supplies to maintain productivity.
  • Sorts and places clean linen into appropriate shelves and exchange carts to ensure patient care areas have an adequate linen supply.
  • Stocks linen supply to patient care areas and responds to linen requests in a timely manner.
  • Performs daily cleaning of linen storage and distribution areas, including disinfecting surfaces, dust mopping, floor mopping, and weekly vent/ledge dusting.
  • Reports problems or incomplete tasks to the team leader or next shift and documents issues as required.
  • Adheres to Safety and Infection Control guidelines; reports unsafe conditions or accidents promptly.
  • Participates in mandatory in-services and/or continuing education programs as directed.
  • Understands and operationalizes the mission, vision, core values, and policies/procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Schedule

Mon-Fri 3pm to 11:30pm with every other weekend and holiday.

Job Requirements

Education

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) preferred.

Experience

  • 6 months previous cleaning experience preferred, preferably within a healthcare environment.

Licenses/Certifications

  • N/A

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Knowledge of housekeeping cleaning practices (preferred).
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills for positive interaction with staff and customers (preferred).
  • Able to follow verbal and written directions.

Physical Requirements

  • Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
