Pay Information $2,071 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a cardiac telemetry setting License: Active Nursing License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Strong cardiac telemetry background with ability to decrease cardiac drips per physician's orders and parameters. Description: This position requires a strong focus on telemetry skills. Travelers must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to the start. This exam allows a maximum of two attempts. Failure to pass results in a six-month do-not-use status in specified regions. A PASS/FAIL simulation lab assessment is conducted on the first day of orientation. Failure in this assessment will result in immediate dismissal and a six-month do-not-use status. The candidate will care for patients who are being held in the emergency department while awaiting placement on an inpatient unit. Patient ratios are typically 1 to 4. The unit has 60 emergency department beds. Experience in titrating drips is required. Common titratable drips include Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone. Nurses must be proficient in reading and interpreting cardiac strips. There are no monitor technicians in the emergency department; registered nurses are responsible for reading strips. The shifts are 12 hours long and may require weekend scheduling. A minimum of four weekend shifts must be completed within a four-week schedule. Holidays are shared with permanent staff on a rotating basis. There is no call or standby requirement. Travelers may be assigned to float to medical, surgical, telemetry, overflow units, as needed. There is no requirement for ventilator management on this unit. Nurses will assist with emergency department tasks like taking vital signs, starting IVs, and administering medications. However, nurses will not be assigned as primary caregivers for emergency department patients. The charting system in use is Cerner. This position does not require a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The care setting is acute, with a trauma level of 3.
