Shipping Specialist
The Shipping Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of shipments and materials in accordance with established procedures. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform packing duties according to written policies and procedures.
- Verify materials picked for sales orders match the packing slip.
- Follow all instructions noted in packing instructions.
- Package materials securely in designated cartons as per department procedures.
- Package hazardous materials according to written policies and procedures.
- Perform shipping duties according to written policies and procedures.
- Process shipments through ERP and shipping systems.
- Verify and apply accurate shipping labels to cartons.
- Apply all necessary regulatory package labeling.
- Stage orders for collection based on department procedures.
- Perform all workstation end-of-day processes.
- Create itemized packing slips and dangerous goods paperwork for applicable shipments.
- Cross-train to Finished Goods Clerk II requirements to support operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve shipment process errors.
- Respond to customer support requests promptly and professionally.
- Ensure quality and accuracy in work, reporting discrepancies to supervision.
- Perform cycle counts without supervision.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Perform aisle and workstation maintenance.
- Participate in Lean initiatives and lead department Gemba walks.
- Monitor, reorder shipping supplies, and manage department equipment.
- Manage time wisely, maintain good attendance, and adhere to health and safety policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- 1 year of shipping and receiving experience.
- Experience with FedEx, UPS, or DHL shipping systems.
- Basic MS Office skills.
- Experience working in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Dependable and detail-oriented with excellent customer service skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Intermediate computer skills (Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, Training software).
- Strong attention to detail and enhanced math and analytical skills utilizing Excel.
- Good time management and organization skills.
- Shipping experience, including hazardous shipping.
- Previous cycle count experience.
- 3 years of related experience.

Work Environment
The work environment is manufacturing casual, with a provided HME coat and glasses. The regular schedule is 8am to 4:30pm, with mandatory overtime when necessary. Employees on the 2nd shift receive a 10% differential to their base offer.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlsbad, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
