Owner, Mid-Atlantic Legal Recruiting, LLC Seeking Virginia-licensed attorney for a criminal law practice boutique. A Virginia-licensed attorney will represent clients in various criminal law matters. Responsibilities
Represent clients in state and federal criminal proceedings, including arraignments, hearings, plea negotiations, trials, and appeals. Provide legal counsel and guidance to clients regarding charges, potential outcomes, and defense strategies. Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, case law, and procedural rules relevant to each case. Draft and file motions, briefs, and other legal documents. Investigate facts, gather evidence, and interview witnesses, law enforcement, and experts to build a strong defense. Negotiate with prosecutors for reduced charges, alternative sentencing, or dismissal when appropriate. Advocate vigorously for clients rights in court, ensuring due process and fair treatment. Maintain client confidentiality and uphold ethical standards of the legal profession. Keep clients informed about case progress and manage expectations regarding potential outcomes. Stay current with changes in criminal law, sentencing guidelines, and trial procedures. Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. Active license to practice law in the applicable state. 05+ years of experience in criminal law (depending on the level of the position). Strong written and oral advocacy skills. Excellent negotiation, research, and analytical abilities. Ability to work independently and manage a demanding caseload. Commitment to protecting clients rights and ensuring access to justice. Preferred Skills
Prior experience with jury trials and appellate work. Knowledge of local court procedures, judges, and prosecutors. Pay range and compensation package
