Overview
Construction Manager – Microgrid / Canopy Solar / BESS at Epcon. Location: San Jose, CA (Onsite). Duration: Late October 2025 – May 2026. This is a high-visibility role overseeing the onsite execution of a microgrid project that will integrate canopy-mounted solar, Tesla Megapack battery energy storage systems (BESS), and EV charging infrastructure for a city bus fleet yard. The project also includes backup generator systems for emergency power. You will manage two prime contractors and a total onsite team of approximately 15–20 personnel. Responsibilities
Lead daily onsite construction activities, ensuring compliance with project plans, schedules, budgets, and safety requirements. Oversee and coordinate the work of two contractors, subcontractors, and field crews across civil, electrical, and mechanical scopes. Manage installation of canopy-mounted solar PV systems, Tesla Megapack BESS units, EV charging equipment, and backup generators. Supervise medium-voltage electrical work and interconnection to existing infrastructure. Conduct regular site walk-throughs, progress reviews, and quality inspections. Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and maintain a strong safety culture on site. Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to resolve field issues and maintain schedule milestones. Track daily progress, document activities, and report to project leadership. Qualifications
7+ years of construction management experience, preferably in renewable energy, power generation, or large-scale electrical projects. Proven experience with canopy solar installations and battery energy storage systems (BESS); Tesla Megapack experience highly preferred. Strong understanding of medium voltage electrical systems and interconnection processes. EV charging infrastructure experience is a plus. Familiarity with generator installation and integration for backup/emergency power is a bonus. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple contractors and a team of 15–20 personnel on site. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Commitment to workplace safety and quality assurance. Project Details
