Overview
Manufacturing Engineer (Machining) in the Manufacturing department — Full Time — Location: Redondo Beach. Compensation: $100,000 - $180,000 per year. Responsibilities
Own all aspects of turbomachinery component manufacturing from product inception and iteration to volume production Work with various CAM softwares (HSM Works, Fusion 360, ESPRIT, Hypermill, etc.) and rapidly learn and become expert in new software Program turbomachinery in MAX-PAC, Hypermill or similar Install advanced CNC machining work centers and develop processes for prototype, test and flight hardware Collaborate with design and development teams to iterate designs for manufacturability and produce reliable, cost-efficient components Resolve technical issues with innovative and resourceful solutions Grow experience across manufacturing fields to advance in-house production capabilities Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or related field 3+ years of experience with CNC machines and CAM packages (HSM Works, Fusion 360, ESPRIT, Hypermill, etc.) 3+ years of experience in a design, test, manufacturing, or production environment Experience on 5-axis mills, 5-axis mill turns, live tooling turret lathes, etc. Experience on manual and CNC mills and/or lathes Ability to rapidly pick up new CAM software and manage large tool libraries Demonstrated ability to take project ownership and work well in small teams Preferred Skills and Experience
6+ years of demonstrated experience with CNC machines and CAM packages (HSM Works, Fusion 360, ESPRIT, Hypermill, etc.) 4+ years of demonstrated experience programming turbomachinery, experience programming in MAX-PAC Ability to set up, work on and manufacture hardware on the shop floor; develop production processes from the ground up including driving design improvements for manufacturing Self-starter with ability to identify problems and implement solutions with limited supervision Experience with multiple machines and OEM software including Heidenhain, Okuma OSP, Siemens, Fanuc, etc. Experience setting up machine shops and evaluating capital purchases Hands-on experience with fabrication tools and processes (electric/pneumatic tools, manual lathes/mills, calipers, welding, etc.) Familiarity with CAD software (NX or equivalent), GD&T and work holding design and analysis; prior fast-paced agile product development experience Flexible schedule and willingness to travel as needed Python/SQL programming experience or similar High attention to detail and rapid pace of execution Additional Information
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and market data. Individual level and base pay are determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, full-time hires may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of stock options, and benefits including medical, vision and dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
