Northrop Grumman seeks a Sr Principal Environmental Health and Safety Engineer to support the Sunnyvale, CA manufacturing site. The organization emphasizes innovation and mission-focused work across secure, multi-domain systems. The role involves applying EHS expertise to identify and implement safety measures in engineering and manufacturing processes. Key Roles And Responsibilities
Conduct qualitative and quantitative hazard assessments, including exposure monitoring for physical and chemical agents and ergonomics hazards. Create and update Job Hazards Analyses to identify enhancements to engineering controls, PPE, training, and safe operating procedures. Complete industrial and office ergonomic evaluations to reduce risk factors for musculoskeletal disorders. Conduct timely injury and near-miss investigations. Assess air quality concerns and review chemicals/hazardous materials for safe use, storage, and disposal. Perform internal compliance inspections to identify actions needed to meet regulatory requirements. Assist in continuous improvement of safety culture and EHS awareness across the site. Interface with regulatory representatives, senior management, site personnel, and sector program managers. Additional Roles And Responsibilities
Provide timely and accurate submission of reports to internal stakeholders, electronic databases, and regulatory agencies. Write and update EHS plans and procedures; develop and maintain EHS programs to meet regulatory requirements and internal Principals and Operating Practices. Support occupational health programs (e.g., hearing conservation, respiratory protection, hazard communication, non-ionizing radiation). May apply for new permits and renewals; work with cross-functional teams to develop safety measures for test plans involving lasers and RF. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, facilities, and management to integrate EHS into design and construction projects. Coordinate EHS training for employees and conduct instructor-led sessions; review and interpret environmental, health, and safety regulations for site applicability. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience in industrial hygiene, environmental/occupational health, or EHS; or MS degree with 6+ years of experience. Experience in industrial hygiene monitoring (noise and air sampling). Experience with lasers and/or RF, chemical exposure, OSHA standards, and ventilation; experience in ergonomic assessments. Proficiency with Tableau, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint; ability to manage metrics. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance (U.S. Citizenship required). Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00. Northrop Grumman may offer overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses.
