Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Responsible for supervising day-to-day operations and managing staff for the Hotel; functions as a strategic leader of the hotel with responsibility for all aspects of the operation. Develops, implements and manages operational goals and monitors achievements of performance and profit objectives. Create effective and efficient schedules, while maintaining labor costs, meeting staffing objectives and achieving guest satisfaction. Assist in the budget process for the department and provide recommendations; ensure compliance to departmental budget initiatives; report budget concerns to manager. Enthusiastically support, promote, and demonstrate superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards. Ensure customer service standards are followed by all team members and address issues as they arise. Responsible for the overall achievement of department customer service goals. Maintain all master and direct bill accounts and coordinate with Accounting staff to ensure correct billing. Make recommendations pertaining to hotel policies and services, and resolve occupants’ complaints while supporting all customer service programs. Responsible for maintaining maximized occupancy and revenue for hotel operations. Make recommendations for financial activities of the hotel such as setting room rates and policies/procedures. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements within area of responsibility and report potential issues to Executive Management / GM. Maintain strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to perform basic mathematical operations and interpret data (rates, ratios, percentages). Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Access, Word) and in hotel software. Ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems in a diplomatic and tactful manner. Must be at least 21 years of age.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Responsible for staff development and training programs. Responsible for rewards and recognition programs to maximize employee engagement. Evaluates team members and provides constructive feedback regarding performance. Determines staffing needs, including interviewing, hiring, scheduling, and directing work to meet business needs. Determines work procedures and expedites workflow. Responsible for employee performance, coaching, and counseling.
Other Requirements
Must complete BASSET or TIPS training and Illinois Food Handlers Training, and possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Physical Demands
The physical demands describe the requirements for performing the essential functions of this job. Regularly stand, use hands, reach, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision. Lift/carry up to 50 pounds occasionally, with varied movements in changing work areas.
Work Environment
