TITLE : Labor and Employment Associate Attorney LOCATION : Detroit or Troy, Michigan SALARY : $105,000 - $185,000 depending on relevant experience and location GENERAL PURPOSE : Perform the general duties of a labor and employment associate by performing legal research, drafting and managing discovery, creating legal documents, attending hearings, participating in depositions, drafting responses to EEOC and MDCR Charges, and providing support and assistance to partner-level litigation attorneys during all phases of employment-related litigation and traditional labor matters. Major Responsibilities
Conduct thorough and high-quality legal research Assist with all areas of discovery including, but not limited to; drafting discovery requests, responses to discovery requests, preparation of initial disclosures and witness preparation Prepare legal briefs and other pleadings Work with partner-level attorneys to determine documents and information to produce, manner of production, and selection of vendors Draft responses to EEOC and MDCR charges Handle various aspects of employment-related litigation, such as motion hearings, mediations and depositions Prepare trial materials Attend and assist at pretrial, trial, and post-trial proceedings Skills, Abilities and Experience
2-4 years’ experience in employment-related litigation and client counseling Excellent research and writing skills Good organizational and project management skills Experience in taking and defending depositions Proficient in the use of online legal research services and resources including Westlaw Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) Experience in traditional labor matters Education and Licensing
Must be a graduate of an accredited law school and admitted to the Michigan State Bar, or eligible to promptly become admitted
