About the Position: Our purpose in the Division of Student Affairs at California State University, Fullerton is to transform the lives of our students academically, personally and professionally, equipping all with the knowledge and skills required for success. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Associate Vice President of Engagement and Student Success. The ideal candidate should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness. The AVP reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Strategic Enrollment Management (VPSASEM) and serves as a member of the VPSASEM Management Team and the Student Affairs Leadership Team. The AVP provides strategic leadership across multiple student support units, overseeing directors in program development, budget and personnel management, and policy implementation. The AVP represents CSUF and the VPSASEM in university, community, and government settings; advances the university’s federal institutional designations; and leads fundraising and grant-seeking efforts, including scholarships. The role also promotes an inclusive campus climate that supports the academic and personal success of all students. In collaboration with senior university leaders—including Academic Affairs, Administration and Finance, University Advancement, Information Technology, and Human Resources—the AVP develops and implements division-wide initiatives that enrich student life. The AVP also manages student issues and complaints, serves in the Vice President’s place when needed, and performs other duties as assigned. Inclusive Leadership

Essential Qualifications Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, psychology, higher education administration, student personnel, or a closely related field. Seven to ten years of higher education experience including supervisory and budgetary responsibilities. Preferred Qualifications Doctorate from an accredited college or university in a relevant field such as counseling, psychology or higher education administration. Experience working with and advocating for a wide range of student populations at the higher education level. Demonstrated management/administrative skills for policy, budget, supervisory, and program development and evaluation responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain interpersonal professional relationships and excellent analytical and written communication and presentation skills. Extensive knowledge of higher education, student affairs philosophy, best practices, and the policies and procedures of a higher education institution. Knowledge of emerging trends and needs in the student population.
