AECOM is seeking an Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support projects throughout the US and OCONUS regions. This role combines technical field commissioning with office-based engineering review and planning. You will oversee electrical commissioning efforts—leading your own work, interfacing with clients, and ensuring systems meet design intent and performance requirements. This role can be based in the following locations: Glen Allen, VA; Baltimore, MD; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Miami, FL; Los Angeles, CA; Minneapolis, MN; New York, NY; Roanoke, VA; San Diego, CA. Responsibilities
Lead and oversee the commissioning of electrical systems, including low and medium voltage power distribution, emergency power, control systems, and related equipment. Provide technical peer review of engineering design drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals. Initiate and lead quality assurance and commissioning from design through post-occupancy phases. Develop electrical commissioning specifications and electrical test procedures to validate the installation and performance of power distribution systems and controls. Conduct site inspections to verify the readiness of systems and equipment for commissioning. Execute onsite functional performance testing of electrical systems. Plan and develop engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems, including exploration of subject area, definition of scope, and development of novel concepts and approaches. Support project overnight travel, estimated at 30% annually. Project Coordination
Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate technical assignments with minimal supervision. Supervision is generally limited to assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits. Act independently on technical matters, requiring extensive progressive experience. Interface with clients on schedules, meetings, and issues, managing client expectations. Advise senior management on project status regularly. Anticipate potential schedule or priority delays and initiate alternative action plans. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS in Electrical Engineering + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education including design and commissioning experience Experience with the design, installation and testing of electrical equipment and systems Preferred Requirements:
Commissioning experience a plus Experience with review and interpretation of Short Circuit, Coordination, and Arc Flash Studies Experience with industry standards and regulations, such as IEEE, NEC, and IEC Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, drawings, and technical documents Proficiency with standard software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Strong communication skills Ability to obtain National Security Clearance Licensed Professional Engineer Ability to develop key client relationships Excellent presentation skills necessary for running project meetings Effective negotiation and dispute resolution skills, analytical and decision-making abilities Demonstrated collaborative skills, both internally and externally Experience briefing senior management and non-specialists on complex technical matters Additional Information
