Overview
At Houston Methodist, the Director of Prospect Management, Analytics and Research is responsible for providing the strategic vision for and the day-to-day management of a comprehensive prospect and philanthropic moves management, research and analytics program. The Director oversees identification of new major and principal gift prospects and evaluation of donors with increased levels of support. The Director sets the vision for maintenance of proposal data, management of prospect and donor portfolios, and facilitation of review sessions that move prospects through the solicitation cycle. This role leads the monitoring and analysis of operational data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for philanthropic growth, and provides data-driven insights to inform the Foundation\'s strategies. Under the Director, the team executes analytical projects from solution design to implementation in a collaborative structure with Foundation leadership, fundraising, administrative, planned giving, events, communication, stewardship, and executive staff. The Director position responsibilities include overseeing department staff to ensure quality, productivity, functional excellence, and efficiency toward strategic and operational objectives. The role is accountable for employee engagement, staffing levels, budget development, compliance, and personnel decisions. It also ensures training, monitoring, and operations initiatives comply with ethical, legal, and accreditation/regulatory requirements. People Essential Functions
Directs, develops, and implements strategic and high-level projects and processes, independently or with teams, to achieve objectives. Oversees staff development to meet objectives in quality, service, and cost-effectiveness; provides guidance and feedback; handles hiring, scheduling, supervision, retention, and evaluation. Meets or exceeds department turnover and employee engagement metrics. Leads regular department meetings, policy reviews, performance appraisals, new hire feedback, coaching, recognition, and staff development to achieve outcomes. Identifies opportunities to build strategic relationships across areas and drives teamwork and process improvements. Collaborates with fundraisers and Foundation staff to maximize fundraising potential of portfolios via strategy alignment, research findings/data analytics, donor cycle tracking, reporting, and moves management support. Service Essential Functions
Oversees department operations, projects, schedules, and activities to meet goals within deadlines and deliver high-quality service and customer satisfaction. Drives service standards and participates on entity committees as a department representative. Ensures timely delivery of briefing documents, biographical profiles, capacity assessments, and summaries on prospects for leadership and fundraising staff. Leads discovery of new prospects and assessment of existing prospects to support major gifts fundraising; recalibrates portfolios to maximize performance and prioritize top prospects. Quality/Safety Essential Functions
Maintains a safe and effective working environment; ensures compliance with safety plans and accreditation guidelines; maintains staff credentials and competencies. Optimizes department workflow and operations; uses lean principles; models situational awareness to improve safety. Ensures policy compliance and handles non-compliance actions as needed. Develops and implements prospect management guidelines to unify moves management and pipeline development; educates fundraising staff on policies and procedures. Finance Essential Functions
Develops and manages department budgets and capital plans; supports cost-effective operation and staffing alignment. Creates strategies to achieve financial targets and staffing needs, optimizing productivity and resource use. Manages research budget and vendor/resource decisions. Growth/Innovation Essential Functions
Identifies and implements innovative solutions to improve operations; leads task forces and committees; represents HM externally as needed. Drives change initiatives and partners with stakeholders to adapt to new structures and requirements. Conducts development conversations with staff and maintains My Development Plan (MDP); supports staff development. Advances innovative prospect management and data-driven analytics to uncover new prospects and support major fundraising efforts.
