12 Role Overview: S&P Dow Jones Indices is seeking a Senior Engineer to be a key player in the planning, preparation, and development of software for the key platform of SPDJI "EWG - Private Markets." This role requires a seasoned engineer who works effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. The ideal candidate must be delivery-focused with experience and skills in financial applications. The candidate will assist with the design, development, and maintenance of solutions for multiple technology platforms supported by the technology team. Responsibilities: Design and develop Java applications for the S&P DJI "EWG - Private Markets" project platform systems. Participate in various software development processes, including requirement analysis, design, coding, testing, and documentation. Develop software applications based on clear business specifications. Work on new initiatives and support existing index applications. Build applications using object-oriented concepts and apply design patterns. Set up development environments and sandboxes for application development. Perform unit testing of application code and resolve errors. Interface with databases to extract information and build functionalities. Effectively interact with customers, business users, and IT staff. What We’re Looking For: Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering is required, or equivalent work experience. 12+ years of IT experience in application development. Strong architectural experience in developing complex financial systems. Proficient in Java with experience in developing concurrent and distributed systems. Hands-on experience using Java features for functional programming. Strong design and development skills for building financial systems. Experience with Java and related technologies. Hands-on experience in designing, developing, testing, and successfully deploying critical and complex projects. Good experience with frameworks for building applications. Advanced experience with application frameworks and caching solutions. Experience in designing and implementing microservices-based solutions. Experience writing unit and integration tests. Proficient in writing SQL queries with a good understanding of data modeling. Experience with RESTful services. Experience with caching solutions and messaging providers. Experience in SQL programming. Exposure to cloud services. Exposure to container optimization. Exposure to CI/CD tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Nice to Have: Experience with AI/ML frameworks. Solid understanding of cloud platforms and containerization. Familiarity with practices and tools for managing ML operations. Experience deploying machine learning models in production at scale. Knowledge of data engineering tools. Contributions to AI/ML projects or publications in the field.
