CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER - PART TIME
The City of College Park has a part-time (20-hour) position available for a Code Enforcement Officer (CEO). The CEO will focus on ensuring that all commercial and residential properties comply with all City codes and ordinances regarding noise compliance, and fire and life safety violations.
The selected candidate will train for approximately 4-6 weeks (Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. -4:30 P.M.). Upon successful completion of training, the CEO will primarily work 10-hour shifts on Fridays and Saturdays.
The typical hours are 4:30 P.M. - 3:00 A.M., with the possibility of temporary adjustments in scheduling for games and special events, dependent upon operational needs. In addition, the CEO must be available to attend occasional court proceedings and staff meetings, usually held on Wednesdays.
The applicant must have excellent communication skills and computer proficiency. The minimum requirements for this entry-level position are: High School Diploma or GED equivalent Ability to attain the Community Noise Enforcement Certification Ability to train and use specialized noise monitoring equipment A valid driver's license with a good driving record in the state of residence Preference will be given to those who possess any of the following:
Prior law enforcement or related experience ICC Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification ICC Zoning Inspector MD Fire Inspector Community Noise Enforcement Certification The selected candidate must complete the following FEMA ICS courses before the start date:
FEMA ICS-100, 200, 700, and 800
Although not required, preference will be given to candidates who are bilingual in Spanish and have experience working in a municipal government environment. The starting hourly range is $25.99 - $27.31, depending on qualifications. The city offers a generous benefits package, including Maryland State Retirement.
