The Art School in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Studio Art (with a focus on painting, drawing and other 2-D media) at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin in Autumn Quarter of 2026-27. Candidates must be a practicing artist with experience in traditional and non-traditional media. Additionally, candidates must have teaching experience in studio art at the university/college level. Location and Programs

Located in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, The Art School at DePaul University offers three degrees (BA in Art; BA in Art, Media, and Design; BFA in Art, Media, and Design) and 7 minors in Art and related programs with dedicated painting, drawing, printmaking, photography (darkroom and digital), and sculpture studios along with computer studios and print facilities. Responsibilities

Produce and exhibit high-quality artwork and/or academic research Teach undergraduate studio art and seminar courses for The Art School with additional teaching opportunities through the university’s Liberal Studies and Honors Programs Engage with faculty colleagues and contribute to The Art School’s academic environment Participate in The Art School, college, and university service activities Support student recruitment, mentoring, and retention Contribute to the visibility and impact of The Art School through active involvement in exhibitions, events, and other engagements Qualifications

Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in a studio art discipline Strong creative studio output and/or academic research Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate level Application Materials

Cover Letter detailing interest in the position Names of three references who may be contacted if candidate is selected as a finalist 15 – 30 examples of studio art work made within the past 10 years 15 – 30 examples of student “college-level” art work made within the past 10 years 2 – 4 class syllabuses from within the past 10 years A representative sample of teaching evaluations Applications are due by 5:00pm on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. The search committee intends to meet with semi-finalists at the CAA Conference in Chicago in February of 2026. No late applications will be accepted. Compensation and Calendar

The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as qualifications, education, experience, and training; the scope and responsibilities of the position; departmental budget availability; internal salary equity considerations; and available market information. About DePaul University’s Academic Calendar: Except for the College of Law, DePaul University operates on a quarter system. Classes in Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters are 11 weeks in length (including finals week) and Summer courses in two sessions are typically 5 weeks in length.
