Food delivery drivers play an essential role in ensuring the nation's food supply chain is efficient and effective. Our drivers not only guarantee timely delivery of products in excellent condition but also represent our company, fostering strong relationships with our customers.
The Driver will be responsible for operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck on local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver food and related products safely and punctually while adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Engage professionally with customers, vendors, and team members, answering inquiries accurately and promptly. Actively collaborate with team members to serve the company effectively. Conduct safety checks (pre/post trip) on tractor/truck and trailer as per DOT regulations, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Report safety issues and necessary repairs immediately. Adhere to all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies. Assess trailer loads for proper securing and report hazards immediately. Count and verify loaded products against customer invoices. Handle all required paperwork related to freight accurately and clearly. Move the tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailers effectively. Execute deliveries according to a predetermined route schedule. Unload products, transporting them to designated storage areas at customer locations. Perform checks for damage, scanning items, and notifying supervisors regarding order removals per company policy. Confirm delivery with customers, ensuring signature collection. Collect payments (cash or checks) when required, and secure customer returns in the trailer. Ensure all vehicles and cargo are secured at all times. Unload damaged goods and returns, completing necessary documentation. Maintain logs of service hours in compliance with all regulatory and company standards. Uphold general cleanliness and organization standards in the tractor, loading dock area, and trailers. At the end of your shift, secure all equipment and complete relevant paperwork. Perform other relevant duties as assigned. Qualification: High school diploma/GED or state-approved equivalent Minimum of 12 months commercial driving experience Valid CDL-A Must be at least 21 years of age Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (as applicable) Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years Successful completion of post-offer drug test Background check clearance post-offer Passing score on road test Valid DOT Health Card or ability to obtain a new one Capable of lifting and utilizing equipment to move/stack freight ranging from 10-35 pounds and up to 60-90 pounds as needed
