We are seeking an Area General Manager - Pipe & Precast for County Materials at our Oconomowoc, WI location.
Responsibilities
Direct, manage, and optimize the location's overall operation, including production, sales, marketing, customer service, and financial performance (P&L).
Ensure achievement of production objectives at the lowest cost consistent with COUNTYs quality standards and customer delivery requirements.
Set and drive sales initiatives, ensuring price, revenue, and profit goals.
Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the assigned location(s); supervise responsibilities in accordance with COUNTYs policies and applicable laws.
Interview, hire, train, and develop team members; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline team members; address complaints and resolve problems.
Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work; directly supervise plant staff to achieve production objectives at the lowest cost while meeting quality requirements.
Evaluate and improve methods, processes, and resource utilization to increase productivity, efficiency, and quality.
Develop plans for optimal utilization of materials, machines, and personnel; review production costs and product quality; adjust production and inventory control programs to maintain profitable operation.
Develop and recommend plant capital and operating budgets to ensure conformance to budgets.
Develop and implement sales strategies to drive price, revenue, and profitability; understand the market, dynamics, and customer base to maximize sales results.
Implement and monitor business strategies to achieve company goals and maintain competitiveness; stay current on industry trends, market dynamics, and customer needs to guide decision-making.
Lead, mentor, and develop managers, supervisors, and staff to drive engagement, productivity, and accountability.
Ensure a safe work environment by adhering to safety standards and fostering a strong safety culture.
Monitor key performance metrics, identify gaps, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and partners to support long-term growth.
Ensure compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and company requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment Fast-paced manufacturing and professional office environment.
Physical Requirements Sitting frequently; carrying/lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally; standing, walking, hearing, and talking as part of daily activities.
Experience & Qualifications A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible related experience in production and operations management is required. 5–10 years in supervisory or managerial roles is required. Hands-on experience with day-to-day plant operations and sales. Knowledge of production workflows, capacity planning, and resource allocation. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams. Involvement in long-term planning, budgeting, and cost optimization. Experience with process improvement and waste reduction. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with ERP and manufacturing and sales systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MES).
